# AppInput

An input an app takes: one parameter of its `main` function.

**Kind:** an object, used in responses.

## Fields

Every field is present in a response; empty ones are `null`.

| Field | Type | Description |
|---|---|---|
| `name` | `string` | The input's name: the parameter's name. A start request gives its value under this name. |
| `dataType` | [`AppDataType`](https://docs.maitento.com/reference/types/app-data-type.md) | The parameter's type. The value always arrives as text. |
