# IngestedFileType

What kind of document a file is, which decides how its text is extracted.

**Kind:** a string enum, used in responses.

## Values

| Value | Description |
|---|---|
| `"WordDocument"` | A Word document. |
| `"Markdown"` | Markdown. |
| `"PlainText"` | Plain text. |
| `"Html"` | An HTML page. |
| `"ExcelDocument"` | An Excel workbook. |
| `"PowerPointDocument"` | A PowerPoint presentation. |
| `"Pdf"` | A PDF. |
| `"Csv"` | CSV data. |
| `"Json"` | JSON. |
| `"Xml"` | XML. |
| `"Image"` | An image, which is described in words so it can be searched. |

New values can appear, so treat one you don't know as "something else", not as an error.
